The name comes from the fact that people can’t say Lisa Edwards without putting an R in the middle. Lisa Redwoods. I had red hair for a long time, and on a trip to San Francisco in 2008 with two Scholastic colleagues, one of them gave me the nickname Redwoods when we were surrounded by them one day. It’s still my name on Instagram. I also like the fact that they stand tall and proud, silent and strong, filled with wisdom and experience, calm and reassuring.
